Humility, in my humble opinion, is an often overlooked but powerful characteristic. I first met Ravi Zupa when I was bartending at City, O’ City back in 2012. I was new to Denver. Ravi was sitting at the bar one night; it was slow, and we were able to have an easy and lengthy conversation. After he left a fellow bartender asked me if I knew who I had just been talking to. I, somewhat embarrassingly, admitted that I hadn’t, and I was quickly informed that that was Ravi Zupa, a rising local artist who had a studio above the bar.

In the following days I looked him up online and after seeing his art for the first time my jaw dropped. I not only loved and appreciated his work but was more taken aback by the fact that had I not been made privy to him being an artist I would have never imagined him to be, based on interaction with him, the caliber of artist that he is. His humility was the icing on the cake.

I eventually moved on from City, O’ City and taught art in Denver Public Schools. At one point I reached out to Ravi to see if he would be interested in coming to talk to my classes about his experiences as a professional artist. Without hesitation, he said yes. I ended up getting lost in my education bubble and, unfortunately, never took him up on that.

Fast forward to the present. I, again, reached out to Ravi to see if he would be interested in submitting a design for a Broken Bone Industries skateboard. He obliged and I am happy to announce the special release of ‘Pines’!

In addition to the ‘Pines’ release, I was also fortunate enough to have another one of Ravi’s designs printed on some decks, titled ‘Rage’.

I will have some (24) hand signed and numbered ‘Pines’ skateboards available in the next couple of days. Ravi will also have some hand signed and numbered ‘Pines’ skateboards available on his site. He will also, exclusively, have the ‘Rage’ skateboards available on his site.

If any of you are interested in purchasing a ‘Pines’ skateboard I would ask that you try to go through Ravi’s site first as all of those proceeds go directly to him (I don’t think they are currently listed yet, so be patient!).

I’m super excited for this release and YOU should be too!
